Today, I want to write something but I did not found any interesting topic. So I wanted to know about the significance or important events on July 11. I Google and came to know that tomorrow is “World Population Day.” Solet we talk about the World Population Day.
“World Popuplation Day” was initiated by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989 but in 1987, there was an event called “ Five Billion Day” which was the main event inspiring to create this event. The day was suggested by Dr KC Zachariah while population reached Five Billion, when he worked as Sr Demography at World Bank.
“Family Planning is a Human Right”
This day is observed every year with new theme. The theme of 2018 is “ Family Planning is a Human Right” This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1968 nternational conference on Human Rights, where family planning was announced to be a human right for the first time. There are nine standards to uphold the human rights to the family planning such as non –discremination, available, accessible, acceptable, good quality, informed decision –making, privacy and confidentiality, participation and accountability.
The main goal of this event is to spread information about population-related issues around the world. Those issues can be related to overpopulation, underpopulation, and populations growing too fast and so on. Increasing the awareness about reproductive health problem, human rights, babys health, gender equality, child marriage, use of contraceptives among people.
