10th Workshop Summary

Anu Sarkar apu’s ten minute speech

Firstly, apu told us how old members can speak fluently. She told that the old membersshould participate in a specific reading section. Reading is a power. She also said that why English is necessary and why we cannot speak after studying for 12 years. She pointed out that we took English as a subject but not a language. If we find out about the importance of English then we can become interested to learn English. In case of apu, firstly she decided to learn English for doing well in her job exams. So, by practicing English for a long time we shall be able to find our interest.

For English reading we can read class 1-12 books and all the contents in the reading section of Search English website. We should take reading seriously. She told us what the faults for reading are. In our childhood, we read loudly but she told us we should practice reading silently.   We shall get a headache or become thirsty reading loudly for a longer period of time. Maybe we need time to adjust with eye reading but we must practice it.

Second fault of practice is taking help from dictionary. She advised us to put dictionary aside. Then she also told us how can then we know unknown English words. She gave us a solution to guess the word meaning regarding the sentence. If we read 10 times by eye reading  then it better than 5 times loud reading.

We should not take reading newspaper or books seriously. We cannot understand everything. We need to read it like storybooks. We cannot read and understand everything at our first attempt but we can understand 50 % or 60%… with time our capacity will grow. Eventually, we shall be able to understand everything. We should give time in reading.

Fearing what others would say is another obstacle for speaking. She told us that we should take reading seriously and let others think what they want to think.

After finishing Razib sir’s advice that was the summary of Anu apu’s lecture, we moved into conversation Section. Let us enjoy the amazing conversation summaries.
