LTE

Hey dear friends , how are you ? Hope , You are well by the grace of omnipotent Almighty Allah . Alhamdulilah , I am also fine .

Well , You have seen already about my today’s task title . I will write about LTE . Basically I am reading about this topic. So I want to make a note for my exam which I am also using my today’s post .

LTE refers Long Term Evolution . It is 4th  Generation mobile broadband technology . For our emerging demand of high data rate , it promises data transfer rates at a rate of 100 Mbps. Basically it is based on UMTS 3G technology which is optimized for All-Ip traffic .

Let’s have a look , the advantages of LTE for network operators and end users perspective .

For network operators :

  • High network throughput
  • Low latency
  • -Plug and play architecture
  • -low operating costs
  • All –Ip network
  • -Simplified upgrade path from 3G networks .

For End users:

–Faster data for downloads/uploads

– Improved response for applications

– Improved end user experience

Now we will know which types of architecture  is LTE following

LTE is composed of high level network which is consisted of mainly three parts such as

-The user Equipment(UE)

– The Evloved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN)

– The Evolved Packet Core (EPC)

The user Equipment(UE): Basically User Equipment has three parts such as

  1. Mobile Terminal (MT) : This handles all the communication functions
  2. Terminal Equipment (TE): This terminates the data streams
  3. Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) : This is also knows as the SIM card for LTE equipments .

The E- UTRAN :

The E-UTRAN handles the radio communications between the mobile and the evolved packet core and just has one component , the evolved base station called eNodeB. eNodeB  is mainly as we know base station where each eBN connects with the EPC by  means of S! interface and it can be connevted with base station by the x2 interface .

Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC):

This is mainly the core network which is consisted of

home subscriber Server (HSS): is a central database that contains information about all the network operator’s subscribers

the packet data network( PDN) : this has the same role as the GPRS support node (GGSN) and the serving GPRS support node (SGSN) with UMTS and GSM

Gateway: There are two types of Gate ways such as p-GW and S-GW which are acted as router to transfer data between the base station and the PDN gateway.

The mobile management entity (MME): controls the high –level operations of the mobile  by means of signaling messages and HSS.

Thanks a lot .

I tried to write a summary about LTE which I read .

Spread the love
