Laylat al-Qadr : Night of Destiny

Hey Friends, I had posted a status before the holy month, Ramadan started with a concept that it is a golden opportunity to get forgiveness from Allah. Now this opportunity is almost finishing. how much do we use this opportunity ? that is the questions bringing in my mind. Okay, we should not be upset because we have also sometimes with a powerful night. Only Allah knows when our pray will be accepted. So We should beg forgiveness as much as we can. we are all very known about Laylat al-Qadr or shobe Qadr. From my post title, you are already know that Today I will discuss about it.

The holy Ramadan month is a period of mercy, forgiveness and salvation. This month is also a practice of spiritual training season wherein believers control themselves by fasting and making good action to please Allah and seek redemption from the hell fire.

Among the all nights of Ramamdan, Laylat al-Qadr is the most blessing gift if the Ramadan. Laylat al-Qadr is also called as Night of Decree, Night of Power, Night of Destiny, Night of value, Night oof Determination, and Night of Measures.
In Islamic belief, This night Quran was sent to Prophet Mohammad ( Peace be upon him).
Says Allah in Sura alBaqarah: The month of Ramadhan, that in which the Qur’an was sent down; a guidance for mankind, and clear signs of guidance and distinction (2:185) [2].

The night of laylat al -Qadr has great significance such as[1]
–Holy Quran was revealed
–Angels are descended to the earth and the annual decree is revealed to them.
–This night is better than a thousand months. Whatever good actions we do in this night, it’s like, we did it for 1000 months or 83 years!

The Night of laylat al -qadr has no fixed date. It can be any of the night , the last 10 days of Ramadan specific in an odd night. These odd night might be 21th, 23th, 25th, 27th, and 29th.

According to a hadeeth narrated by Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with them both), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Seek it in the last ten days of Ramadan, when there are nine days left, and seven days left, and five days left.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 4/260 [3].

In Quran, There is a separate chapter where the significance of laylat al -Qadr described.

Allah says
“Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.”
[Surah al-Qadr:1-5] [4]

There are many hadits and sura which are related to represent the significance of laylat al -Qadr.
On this night, People can get forgiveness about his past sins. This is can be a major reward as to bring happiness to this life and hereafter.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever stays up during Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of earning reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (al-Bukhari, 1910; Muslim, 760) [3].
So we can do some Ibadat along with fasting in this magnificent night.
I would like to mention some of thing, we can do on the Night of Decree.

  1. Taking a vacation for Allah
we can take a vacation from our jobs to focus on worshping and thanking our create . If we can, we can get off some days before, this will make easier to awake up at night
  2. Do Itikaf
Itikaf is an another way to get forgiveness . It was a habits of our prophet to spend last ten days and nights in the Ramadan in the mosjid. Women can also do in their house . during this time, we can do Zikir ( The remembrance of Allah) , extra prayers, reciting and studying Quran.
  3. Make this special Dua

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: I asked the Messenger of Allah: ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?’ He said: ‘Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.’ “(Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi).
The transliteration of this Dua is “Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee”

  1. Recite Quran
Reciting Quran is one if the best way to spend the night. We can read or. recite some selecting surah or surahs and can read the meaning. We can read the tafseer and try to understand their significant meaning. Getting our sins wiped out,
we can pray with longer surah just not with shorter one. Try to deep thinking about the meaning of those.
  2. Recite 1000 times (or as many times possible) Sura alQadr.
  3. Recite surahs `Ankabut (#29), Rum (#30) and Dukhan (#44).
  4. Du`a at-Tawbah as many times as possible.
  5. Pray Tahajjud.
  6. Do zikir or tasbih as much as possible.

That’s all I learnt today. May Allah accept our prayer and safe from the hell fire.
Please keep me in Your prayers . Fi-amnillah ☺
